A Prayer for Staying Open
Your dreams on loop
rehearsed before sleep,
your plans for peace
for a day other than this
but you’ve been in this
and never in other.
The sky is not a fortress,
the walls you believe forebode
misery are laid by you
when cementing bricks
for tomorrows, instead
of moving like the wind.
When you look up,
I wish you would see
limitlessness greater than us
and our primitive dreams
and release your wishes
for tomorrow to the clouds
who know tomorrow for you,
so you can stay right here
in the only place of peace,
trusting your mind
isn’t to be trusted
knowing beyond now.
