Surrendering to Mystery
The stars in the night sky, the smell of a rose, a tree growing out of a rocky cliff, the birth of an infant. The world around us is so magically mysterious. Dear one, we can either try to resist the mystery of the world through trying to control and cage, or we can surrender to the magic of mystery. If we choose to surrender, we are choosing a path of freedom, a path of wonder.
Dear ones, we so desperately want to know. The human ego wants to have it figured out. We want to know our loved ones will be OK, we want to know we will be happy in that job, we want to know if we are with the right partner. We especially want to know WHY - why are we here, why is the sun shining, why does love feel so warm and filling. Dear ones, I am not here to tell you what I know. There is so little I know; the more I come home to myself the less I know.
All we can truly know is what is real and true in this very moment. Use your breath, dear ones, to direct your mind to this very moment and to connect with your body. Take this moment, even if it is only just this moment, to set aside your desire to know, to understand. Use your exhale to release the ego’s hunger to know. Dear ones, you do not need the answers to these questions. Everything you need to know is already within you. Connect with the knowledge of your body. Our desire to figure it all out, have it all planned out, keep it all under control, only takes us away from our actual knowledge, from the wisdom of our bodies. It also takes us away from mystery’s magic and beauty.
Dear ones, the possibilities are endless. Allow your heart to open to the beauty of the unknown. How deeply amazing is it that our limited vision can’t even comprehend the dream of being alive. Whatever we are doing, wherever we are, is so grand, so majestic, so incomprehensible, we can’t possibly know. Use your breath to feel this truth. Notice how you feel in your body as you release the ego’s desire to know and understand on the exhale and inhale the intense, infinite magic and beauty of mystery.
When you use your breath in this moment to connect with what you are feeling in your body, you are connecting with all you need to, and truly, know. What is your body telling you that you know to be true right now? All that I truly know, dear ones, is that love is all. Dear ones, let us be supported by love as we are swept away by the magical current of mystery. May we let go of our control, our desire to know, to fully release ourselves to the mystery of the universe.
With love and mystery,
Kier
